If you need a passport some information is provided below. At this time the Newton County Recorder can not issue passports.
A passport is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. The Newton County Recorder's Office is not a passport acceptance facility and can not assist any U.S. citizen, who meets the passport application requirements, with obtaining a U.S. passport at this time. Important Requirement Dates for Travelers
-December 31, 2005 – Passport or other accepted document required for all travel (air/sea) to or from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America.
-December 31, 2006 – Passport or other accepted document required for all air and sea travel to or from Mexico and Canada.
-December 31, 2007 – Passport or other accepted document required for all air, sea and land border crossings.
